The government of the Nuba Mountains on Sunday opened Kush State University in the region.
Project Director, Khalid Abbas, says the idea of the institution was simple plan and now it has materialized, Radio Voice of Peace reports.
There are many Nuba children who finished their secondary studies within and abroad, but could not pursue higher education, he adds.
The University will help students to reduce expenses of going abroad for higher studies, Abbas says.
He urges authorities and communities to join hands to support the University, but not to fear challenges.
Kush University has registered 1,576 students in different faculties and 430 more are expected to be enrolled in the nearer future, announces the Project Director.
Governor of the Nuba Mountains Suleiman Jabona expresses determination despite a lot of challenges.
He calls on Educationist, Kush University administration and his government officials to put efforts for the institution to operate.
The government will work hand in hand with the university administration to hold up the academic arrangements, he pledges.
