Japanese parliament has approved twenty-two point four million US Dollars’ budget for South Sudan humanitarian and reconstruction assistance.

The money will be sent through international organizations, said Kiya Masahiko, Japanese Ambassador to South Sudan in a statement.

Japan attempts to help meet the huge needs of relief, reconstruction, development and restoration of social fabric to support peace efforts in the young country, he added.

The Ambassador said Japan also provides 13 million Dollars assistance to South Sudanese refugees in Uganda, Ethiopia and Kenya.

He wishes that Japanese humanitarian aid bears fruit to realize peace and reconciliation in South Sudan.

Japan’s total assistance to South Sudan since the December 2013 crisis is estimated at 189 million Dollars.
