Western Lakes State Minister of Education says they discussed with church schools of the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek or DOR to reduce registration fees.
Francis Mabor Meen says they agreed to charge 800 SSP instead of 1000 SSP for primary and reduce secondary fees from 6,000 to 4,500, Radio Good News reports.
Pre-school pupils will pay 400 pounds, he adds.
The Minister says they intervened because of economic hardship as parents cannot afford the huge school fees.
He appreciates the authorities of the Catholic Church of Rumbek for agreeing to adjust the school fees.
It is not yet confirmed as to how much will other private schools’ students Western Lakes State in pay.
