The international community expresses deep concerns over the continuing fighting resulting in mass atrocities and terrible humanitarian situation in South Sudan.
AU, IGAD and UN after consultative meetings on South Sudan in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Sunday, called for an immediate ceasefire.
They urged the warring parties to ensure inclusivity of the political process in the proposed national dialogue and implementation of the peace agreement.
The AU, IGAD and UN reaffirmed their collective commitment in the search for lasting peace, security and stability in the country”, read part of the statement.
They also reiterated their determination to further enhance their cooperation in support of the South Sudan peace process.
IGAD head Hailemariam Desalegn chaired the meeting which AU Commission Chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres attended.
Other participants were Ethiopian Foreign Minister, AU Commissioner for Peace and Security and other senior officials of the three organizations.
