The cases of communal violence among local communities in Western Lakes State have reduced since the beginning of 2017.
Three commissioners at the boundary of Western and Eastern Lakes told Radio Good News that relative calm has returned to border communities.
Madit Malual Kachuol, Former Commissioner of Rumbek East said there are no more reports of ambushes along Rumbek-Yirol road due to cooperation.
Since last year when the government restricted movements of people with guns along highways, communal fighting stopped, he adds.

Information Minister Daniel Dut Makuet said several peace initiatives and dialogues in many areas of the state last year and early 2017 reduced communal violence.
Despite the relative calm in the state, there are still other forms of crimes the state is experiencing like night looting and theft, he said.
Minister Makuet pointed out that the state government is ‘in position to find solutions to such problems’.
Last Year, two-day Governor’s conference resolved to form several committees at the borders in order to help in cracking down cattle theft and dealers.
