The Episcopal Church of South Sudan and Sudan Yei Diocese prepares the century celebration early next month.

Bishop Hillary Luate Adeba says the day will mark hundred years of the coming of the Gospel of Jesus to Yei in 1917, Radio Easter reports.

The arrival of the gospel of Jesus made tremendous change to the people of Yei in culturally, traditionally and other ways of life, he tells South Sudanese.

The people of Yei did not resist the coming of the gospel of Christ like in other places the first missionaries were killed and chased out of the country, Bishop Luate notes.

He adds that it was the plan of God for missionaries to introduce Christianity to open a way for complete change of life by accepting Jesus as Saviour.

Bishop Luate emphasizes that people of Yei adds are most peaceful in whole South Sudan.
