Governors of Gok, Western and Eastern Lakes States agreed to conduct a comprehensive disarmament of illegal firearms in the hands of the civil population.
Western Lakes State Governor Abraham Makoi Bol Kodi says they met and discussed on ways to address the availability of illegal guns, Radio Good News reports.
He observes that revenge cases, cattle raiding and many others are caused by the presence of arms in the hands of civilians.
Governor Rin Tueny Mabor of Eastern Lakes State appeals to the people of the three states to embrace peace and work together to achieve lasting peace with their neighbors.
He promises to implement and disseminate peace to his people.
Madahang Majok Meen, Gok State Governor says they are going to implement the resolutions agreed in the meeting.
He also applauds President Salva Kiir for supporting peace in Lakes region.
