Tombura/Yambio Catholic priest celebrates 50 years of services

A priest of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura/Yambio on the New Year festival celebrated his 50 years in the ministry of priesthood.
 
Fr Michael Katawa in his homily on Sunday urged Christians to be thankful to the Lord for his mercy to all people, Radio Anisa reports.
 
He urges the faithful to learn from Virgin Mary who remains faithful to God in prayers and devoted her life to him.
 
Fr Katawa was born in 1940 in Yangiri Payam of Ezo County and started his primary school there before going to Naandi and Bussere Minor Seminary in 1954.
 
He was ordained a priest on December 16, 1966 in Rome, Italy.
 
Fr Katawa was elected representative of the priests of Wau to the Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference in Juba in 1972.
 
He was later elected MP of the National Legislative Assembly in Khartoum, Sudan in 1974 and serve there until 1981.
