Pope concerned about the situation of South Sudan, says Nuncio

The Apostolic Nuncio to South Sudan on Thursday says Pope Francis is deeply concerned about the situation in South Sudan.
 
Archbishop Charles Daniel Balvo told Radio Anisa that his first visit to the Catholic Diocese of Tombura/Yambio is as an ambassador of peace, mercy and reconciliation.
 
He urges the people of South Sudan to embrace reconciliation for lasting peace in the country.
 
Acting Governor of Gbudwe State, Edward Kpiawandu says the government is working hand in hand with the churches to have sustainable peace.
 
He adds that now the state is calm because of the efforts of the church and government after one and half years of insecurity.
 
The Vatican Ambassador, who arrived in Yambio on Wednesday, is now celebrating mass at St Mary Yambio Parish on Friday before leaving for Tombura on Saturday.
