Hundreds of youth in the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek begin today Wednesday annual youth congress under the theme: ‘Be merciful as heavenly Father is merciful’.
Diocesan Coordinator Fr John Mathiang Machol describes the congress as a moment of gathering together to meet with God, Radio Good News reports.
He says the occasion aims at educating young people on faith and taking responsibility of being messengers of Christ.
Fr Mathiang notes that some youth of places in the diocese blocked by insecurity will not participate in the seventh congress due to precautions.
‘If they are not coming it does not mean they are being excluded from the congress, they will have the same celebration in Yirol’, he said.
Many youth from ten parishes are expected to attend the seventh Diocesan Youth Congress from December 14 to 19 in Rumbek.
