The recent conflict in South Sudan ‘has drastically increased’ the population of persons with disabilities from fifteen percent to a bigger one, says Director-General in the national Ministry of Gender Child and Social Welfare.

Charles Opoka Okumu reports that development partners rehabilitated over five thousand people with lost limbs this year alone.

The fifteenth percent is the population of people disabilities got after the Ministry of Gender Child and Social Welfare conducted an assessment in 2011, Opoka recalls.

The persons with disabilities earlier on asked the government to bring peace because they cannot run for safety in times of conflict.
