Students of St Augustine Secondary School in Isohe, Ikwoto County in Eastern Equatoria express worries about disconnection from parents and stress due to conflict in South Sudan.

In a report filed by Radio Emmanuel reporter, the students appeal to the government to bring peace and stop the ongoing highways’ attacks that avoid them from visiting their parents within the country.

“I miss my parents since 2013 upto now. I never heard their voices due to the conflict. So I am begging you all the government officials, you handle us as your children”, says one of the students.

She urges the government to disarm people so that students are not disturbed.

“When the country is peaceful, there will be massive development” the student adds.

Another student says he did not go for holidays this year, due to insecurity to reache his place.

“So I ask the people or government at large that, let them put their efforts in the issue of insecurity to put arms down and come for peace. Because as children, we are missing the happy life of children”.

A senior two student says she is praying for an end to road attacks to allow free movement of people, especially students.

‘We have to bring our hearts together and our mind together and rebuild peace in our new nation. There is much conflict in our area. The roads are not all ok. We have stayed here in holidays. Our bodies were in the school, but our mind as students were very far from being concentrating on studies. Our minds are just very far, thinking how South Sudan will be’. she lements.

Many students who are studying in the neighboring states have found it difficult to visit their parents since conflict erupted in 2013.
