The new President of the Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference or SCBC consults Equatoria Forum of Elders on how to pursue peace through the church.

Bishop Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala tells the Forum that South Sudanese are afraid, sceptical and suffering due to recurrent conflicts in the country.

A member of the Forum of Elders tells the SCBC President that Equatoria region is sidelined from high decision making on security matters.

He says Equatoria members are in a difficult situation of marginalization.

Another member of the Forum says some South Sudanese are enjoying the suffering of the marginalized ones.

She says Equatoria members have been denied freedom of speech and expression.

Another member observes that IGAD-Plus neglected the voices of Equatoria in August 2015 Peace Agreement.

He believes the ailing peace deal will never be implemented due to fear of justice and accountability by those in charge of affairs.

The consultative meeting with Equatoria Forum of Elders took place on Wednesday this week.
