Speaker suspends debate on National Budget again

The Speaker of the National Legislature on Thursday suspended an extraordinary sitting to debate the National Budget in its third reading.
 
Speaker Anthony Lino Makana says the suspension is due to consultative meeting by majority SPLM Caucus in the parliament.
 
He sees possibility of debate on Friday tomorrow.
 
There are critical issues to consult on, in the budget, Speaker Lino highlights.
 
Earlier on, Stephen Dhieu Dau, the Minister of Finance cited difficulties in stabilizing the economy including war.
 
He indicated that without peace and economic reforms, there would be no recovery.
 
The 2016/2017 budget amounts to 22.3 Billion South Sudanese Pounds.
 
The government intends to increase taxation on non-oil revenue to raise the amount.
 
Alcohol, for example is expected to be taxed 100 percent.
 
Foreign trips for any person are expected to be charged 20 US Dollars each.
