He was talking during the commemoration of the International Day for Human Rights defenders in Juba on Tuesday.

The panel discussion was important because human rights can be defended by various sectors, says Nyuol Justin Yaac, Acting Chairperson of South Sudan Human Rights Commission.

Moses Opio, Soweto Community Based Organization or SCBO Coordinator, portrays communication between civilians and the military personnel as hard to comprehend because of absence of freedom of expression.

International Day for Human Rights was commemorated with panel discussion as the first of its kind.

The discussion that attracted about 60 participants from various sectors was to build the capacity of human rights defenders in South Sudan.

It is also for the defenders to share information and experiences to create a nationwide platform.
