Catholic Radio Network or CRN won the first award for reporting on the mismanagement of Girls Education South Sudan, or GESS money, confirms Executive Director of Community Empowerment for Progress Organization or CEPO.

Edmond Yakani says the award call ‘Anti-Corruption and Transparency Champion Award Winner’ is a reward to CRN for struggling to keep the public informed about corruption cases.

GESS cash transfers is a UK funded Project meant to keep school girls continue with their studies, but some school administrators took away from them.

Yakani observes that CRN’s ‘intensive reporting’ about the girls’ cash transfers has made some positive changes where some teachers are held accountable.

The National Anti-Corruption Commission will hand over the award to CRN on December 9 in Juba.

Eye Radio also won and will get the same ward.
