Two teachers and four school girls are under detention over corruption of Girls Education South Sudan, GESS money in Yambio.
National Security Office in Yambio says two teachers from Yabongo Girls Primary School were receiving money on ghost names of girls, Radio Anisa reports.
A Primary-Five pupil says her teacher authorized her to receive money with a different name, but all the money was taken from her.
She ended up crying in the school compound.
A school leaver from Yabongo Complex says a friend called by phone and gave a token for receiving money.
The school says two of them appeared with two receipts bearing one name, one was valid, but the one was invalid.
Isaac Juma Zungua, Acting Director-General in Gbudwe State Ministry of Education says he will take drastic measures against any teacher found guilty of corruption.
He says after the incident he visited some schools and found why there was mismanagement in giving GESS money to the right owners.
The detainees are under investigation by police for court proceedings.
Each school girl under the GESS gets 2,300 South Sudanese Pounds for her basic needs.
The initiative is meant to maintain girls in education.
But, most teachers often earn less than 2000 South Sudanese Pounds per month as their basic pay.
