Authorities in Gok State say cross border raids with neighbouring Tonj State have considerably dropped in the last six months.

Local Government Minister Samuel Wel Machiek says major raids between the two states happened last March, Radio Good News reports.

He adds that the two governments are now enjoying mutual cooperation.

Wel discloses that they recovered 300 heads of cattle from Tonj and that 50 more are being collected by authorities of Anan Atak County.

He says cattle raiding between Gok and Western Lakes States continue, but the two states are planning a dialogue to resolve issues and begin recovery of stolen cattle from both sides.

Minister Wel urges citizens of Gok State to maintain peace especially at water points as the dry season approaches.
