Tuberculosis and leprosy cases have fallen in Heiban County of the Nuba Mountains, says General Medical Director for Prevention.
 
Osman Azareq Jemaeh attributes the reduction to medical awareness campaigns among communities in the region, Radio Voice of Peace reports.
 
The director explains that a medical team was doing thorough research and monitoring to enlighten the public about dangers of the diseases.
 
Azareq adds that the aim of mass awareness campaign is to prevent unnecessary deaths in occurrence of disease outbreaks.
 
The director warns that HIV/AIDS and other Sexually Transmitted Infections are increasing in the Nuba Mountains.
 
The official earmarked a plan of training health officials in communities on disease prevention.
