Refugees, who fled conflict from Congo to South Sudan, are at risk of dying of HIV/AIDS due to lack of antiretroviral drugs or ARVs, UN refugee agency warns.

Richard Ruati, UNHCR Assistant External Relations Officer says it is very difficult for the refugees with HIV to access their medicines and other assistance due to insecurity.

He adds that the time table for taking ARVs is fixed and once a person misses, he or she reaches the danger of dying.

Ruati says the refugees have fled the camp to bush, where humanitarian organiations cannot acess.

He appeals to the warring parties to allow humanitarian organizations reach the refugees to save their lives.

Before the conflict broke out in 2013, there were over five thousand refugees in South Sudan from the neighbouring countries.
