UNMISS to ‘halt’ provocative messaging

United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS says it will work with stakeholders to end messaging that inciting people within and outside the country.
 
Nadeem Bashir, senior protection of civilians’ advisor, says UNMISS will work with different stake holders including church leaders, civil societies and elders in Yei to stop acts leading to genocide.
 
Nadeem says UNMISS visited Yei on Wednesday in order to witness and pass messages of confidence, peace and reconciliation on the mission’s efforts.
 
He adds that UNMISS will not allow acts of genocide happen in South Sudan.
 
The Undersecretary General on Prevention of Genocide is holding high level discussions with appropriate counterparts in South Sudan with a view that genocide will not happen, Nadeem says.
 
On Wednesday, this week the UNMISS officials met church leaders at Yei Catholic secretariat.
