A six-member team of United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS visiting Yei River met church leaders and other stakeholders in the state.

The aim of the meeting is to hear from the church leaders about the security situation and deteriorating relationships among communities, says Anne Scout, of UNMISS Civil Affairs, who heads the delegation, Radio Easter reports.

Bishop Hilary Luate Adeba of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan and Sudan appreciates UNMISS visit to the area.

He says the church leaders are ready to push for dialogue only if their security is guaranteed because their mandate is given by Jesus Christ.

The relationship was good among different communities in the past, but worsened when the new army was brought to the area, says Bishop Erkolano Lodu Tombe of the Catholic Diocese of Yei.

The UN team also met the youth, elders and the community leaders.
