Saints Peter-Paul Parish in the Nuba Mountains has inaugurated women’s training centre to improve its activities and attract more women.

The Masqal al Nashataht as it’s called in Arabic was opened with solemn mass led by Fr Francis Angela, Radio Voice of Peace reports.

The construction work for the centre began since 2011, Father Angela says.

The priest in his homily asks people to let the building for training to be a source of unity and development for women.

He says the centre should teach women of the Nuba Mountains to develop the region.

Secretary for the centre, Amira Ali says women learn various activities such as knitting, tailoring and weaving bags among others.

She says the centre will enrol women through chapels.

Moslem women are also welcomed for the training, Mrs Ali says.

The secretary says the centre had faced several challenges such as failure of participants to complete their courses in the last three years of formation.
