Tonj government has admitted that it arrested and detained Gok State Member of Parliament or MP last week.

Gok State MP, John Aremic had a private visit to Tonj, but some Bongo community members alleged that he was behind a killing of four civilians, Radio Don Bosco reports.

They also alleged that the MP was in Tonj to buy weapons for youths of his area.

Tonj authorities acted by arresting the parliamentarian in response to the accusations, says State Spokesperson, Madit Malek.

Malek blames the MP for not reporting his presence in the area to any authority.

Gok State Deputy Governor tells Radio Don Bosco on phone that the allegations against the MP were just rumours and that he was later released.

A delegation from Gok State government visited Tonj to resolve the matter.
