Armed groups release over 100 child-soldiers

United Nations Children Fund, UNICEF announces this Wednesday that armed groups in South Sudan have released a total of 145 child-soldiers.
 
UNICEF says it is the largest number of child-soldiers freed since 2015.
 
Last year, at least one thousand child-soldiers were released in Pibor Administrative Area.
 
Mahimbo Mdoe, UNICEF’s Representative in South Sudan hopes many others will be set free.
 
About 16 thousand children enlisted in armed forces are expected to be released, UNICEF says.
 
Mdoe says all the freed children will receive counselling and psychosocial support in coming months.
