The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in South Sudan says she remains hopeful that peace will prevail in the country although the road ahead is still challenging.
Ellen Margrethe L√∏j says she looks forward to the day where the girls and boys of South Sudan will never know the trauma of war again to actualize their full potential.
This young nation will finally live out its great promise, stresses the retiring Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General.
Margrethe has informed the UN Secretary-General that she will be stepping down from her role at the end of November after serving more than two years as Head of the mission in South Sudan.
The Special Representative says she had planned to retire at the expiry of her current contract in the end of August of this year, but chose to remain in the wake of July violence until relative calm returns.
UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-Moon appointed Margrethe, his Special Representative in South Sudan in July 2014.
