UNESCO and UNDP have organized one week peace building and literacy through Tech Innovation Boot camp for 16 students from the University of Juba.

The programme starts today, Monday until Friday at the Regency Hotel in Juba.

The purpose of the boot camp is to develop two mobile applications, ‘apps’ aiming at educating South Sudanese youth on the process of building a peaceful and literate nation.

The two mobile apps are; the Peace App that will explain different terms relating to conflict, violence and its impact.

It will also outline the peace building process with focus on the role of an ordinary citizen in the national peace building agenda.

The Literacy App seeks to enable youth, especially secondary school and university students to increase their level of literacy by enrolling in UNESCO Literacy Course.

The UNDP and UNESCO are strengthening community-based communications that nurture dialogue and contribute to home-grown solutions for peaceful co-existence.
