Yei River State Governor cautions security organs to stop unnecessary arrest of civilians without a clear reason.
David Lokonga Moses says some people might be having individual grievances and end up arresting innocent people, Radio Easter reports.
He says security organs ‘must be very careful in taking a person’ do a primary investigation to find out reasonable evidence.
Governor Lokonga directs the security apparatus to stop torturing detainees to revealing information, saying torture may force a person to even say lies.
The governor assures that the state government will take human rights very seriously to ensure that citizens stay without fear.
The State Governor made the statements during the release of 22 detainees in Yei on Friday morning.
