St Bakhita Health Center of the Catholic Diocese of Yei on Wednesday celebrated the World Mental Health Day under the theme: ‘Psychological first aid preserving dignity in crisis response’.
The Day was postponed on October 10 due to the national government’s delegation visit to Yei River State to assess the security situation, Radio Easter reports.
Some clients who received their mental health treatment at the Center thank the administration for their psychiatric services.
They urge the government to improve the security situation to allow the Center extend its services to the rural communities.
Kogo Manasseh Levi of State Minister of Health says they will work hard to train more psychiatric personnel to overcome challenges facing the people with mental health.
Vicar-General of Yei Catholic Diocese Fr Zachariah Angutuwa Sebit says they are working to expand the health facility to ensure proper service delivery to citizens.
St Bakhita Center is the only health facility dealing with mental problems in Yei River State.
