Schools in Yei are raising non-violent children by forming anti-violence clubs to carry out awareness.

Immanuel Model Primary School is one of the schools having the club, consisting of 32 members, Radio Easter reports.

The anti-violence club members give non-conflict speeches, hold regular meetings with learners, visit schools and help resolve indiscipline cases.

Taban Francis, head teacher of the school, recalls that the clubs had irregularly been visiting other schools in Juba and Terekeka to share experiences.

He says the anti-violence clubs aim at bringing up non-violent children, addressing issues amicably and have a peaceful environment.

The head teacher says the school has recorded a drop in the number of learners due to the July conflict.

Francis regrets that the biggest violence children could not address is the ongoing war in South Sudan.

He appeals to political leaders to bring peace for free and peaceful environment for learners.

Plan International South Sudan supports the anti-violence clubs in the schools.
