The Peace Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in South Sudan is still alive and no party can dissolve and renegotiate it, says Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission or JMEC Chairperson.

Festus G. Mogae says the only path to total peace is through dialogue as there will never be military solution to the conflict in the young country.

He points out the daily violations of the ceasefire by both the SPLA and SPLM in Opposition countrywide.

Mogae expresses concerns on insecurity situation in Equatoria especially targeting of the civilian population.

JMEC Chairperson notes continuous sexual violence against young girls and women and recruitment of child soldiers by both armed groups.

JMEC received reports on various boards and commissions and how they can fully reconstitute them.
