Apostolic Nuncio opens ‘Good Shepherd Peace Centre’ in Kit

Apostolic Nuncio to South Sudan on Saturday opened ‘Good Shepherd Peace Centre’ in Kit in the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba.
 
Archbishop Paolino Lukudu Loro of Juba, three other Bishops, Torit Apostolic Administrator and many Diocesan and religious priests assisted Archbishop Charles Daniel Balvo in the joyful occasion.
 
The project was built by Catholic Religious in South Sudan as a centre for human, pastoral and spiritual formation, peace building and trauma healing for the young country.
 
The Centre will be a very positive force in the search for peace in the young country, said Fr Daniele Moschetti, President of the Religious Superiors’ Association in South Sudan.
 
He explained that the workforce of the Centre consists of a South Sudanese Comboni Priest, two members of Solidarity with South Sudan, a Vincentian priest from the Philippines, and a Sister of the Immaculate Heart of Mary from the USA.
 
Other staff included a Jesuit Priest from Rwanda, St Martin De Porres Brother from Uganda and a team living unity in diversity, Fr Moschetti added.
 
He appreciated all some South Sudanese, supervising Engineer, Brother Hans Eigner and Contractor Robert Andama for their commitment to complete the Centre in 17 months.
 
The leader explained that the project was built with funds from Italian and German Catholic charities, some international NGOs and supported by several Catholic religious congregations in South Sudan.
 
The Centre launched by Archbishop Lukudu on October 11, 2014 has 40 bedrooms, and youth hostel that can accommodate sixty people.
 
It also has a conference and dining rooms, a chapel, many seminar rooms and outdoor tukuls, on a peaceful site near the Kit River.
