The SPLM Former Political Detainees are urging the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission or JMEC and IGAD to urgently convene a roundtable of all South Sudanese stakeholders to address rapid developing crisis to avoid similar violence in the country.

In a press statement signed by Kosti Manibe, the group says the roundtable should aim at arresting further deterioration of security situation by opening up dialogues.

They say the roundtable will either save the Agreement in a modified form or work out a new agreement in the event that it is proved to be beyond salvation.

The ex-detainees are responding to recent incidents of road attacks and killings along Juba-Nimule, Juba-Yei, Juba-Torit and Juba-Kajo-Keji highways.

They express fear that South Sudan could descend into total chaos and eventual disintegration if the situation is not averted.
