The Chairman of Committee for Religious Freedom and Citizens’ Rights in the Sudan called for the release of his detained pastors.
Bishop Andudu Alnail called on the government to direct the National Intelligence and Security Services release Reverend Hassan Kodi Tour, Kuwa Shemaal, activist Abdel Moneim and artists Peter Al Jak since December 18, 2015 in Omdurman.
He in his petition dated October 1, 2016 also asked the regime to release journalists Amal Mubarak and Ahmed Kuku Kunda and activists Tijani Al Haj, Tariq Muheisi and Hamid Karaka who were detained recently.
The Bishop urged the government to stop the ongoing trial of the detainees and respect their constitutional rights and religious freedom.
He also called on the government to stop persecuting Christians and destroying churches and places of worship.
Bishop Alnail criticized government’s repeated statement that licences for building new churches will not be issued.
He expressed grave concerns about Sudanese government ongoing detention of pastors and activists.
