The main road from Yirol to Rumbek has been reopened after weeks of flooding, cutting off movement of vehicles at Bahr Naam Bridge.

Trucks have arrived Rumbek on Sunday evening after spending almost a month in Rumbek East, Radio Good News reports.

State Government Spokesman Daniel Dut Makuet on Monday said a team of constructors working at Payi Bridge, Yirol West was recalled to fix Bahr Naam road.

He confirms that a certain government official reportedly set up illegal check point and began taxing truck drivers.

The Spokesperson says the issue was later handled by the Governor, warning people against illegal checkpoints.

He is optimistic that the reopening of the road will gradually reduce prices of goods in Rumbek market.
