A man has survived after being bitten by a snake when he chewed leaves of a tree known as tamarind in Kawalib of Nuba Mountains on Monday.

Jimess Mohammed Brema explained that his brother Al-Mai Mohammed Brema was seriously bleeding and had to help himself before people rescued him, Radio Voice of Peace reported.

He said his brother was rescued by some pastoralists who rushed him to the hospital in Nyukur Payam in Dalamy County.

Snake bites are very common these days in the Nuba Mountains because of the thick bushes of the rainy season.
