At least eight people died and forty others injured when two buses collided on Nimule-Juba road on Wednesday morning.

A witness who was travelling in a separate bus that arrived on the scene soon after the collision, say the people who died include South Sudanese, Ugandans, Ethiopians and Kenyans.

Officials say the survivors are getting treatment at Nimule Hospital, Radio Emmanuel reports.

Traffic Police officer at Nimule, Thomas Rudolf, says two buses belonging to a Ugandan company call ‘Gateway’ collided at Kerepi area on Nimule-Juba highway.

The buses were over speeding and did not abide by South Sudan’s traffic rules, he adds.

Rudolf says all the two drivers and their conductors were among the dead.

This is one of the recent deadly bus accidents on Juba-Nimule highway involving Ugandan bus after a Bakulu Bus killed dozens in a similar disaster in 2014.
