Yei River State Governor tells organized forces and citizens to stop revenge killings against innocent civilians after clashes with armed group in the bush.

David Lokonga Moses says the tendency of attacking innocent civilians with false claims that their relatives are in the bush must stop, Radio Easter reports.

He says any person exercising tribalism is his first enemy because God was not mistaken to create different tribes.

The government values and protects all the tribes of South Sudan and foreigners, he adds.

Governor Lokonga calls for calm in the state and urges citizens to continue with their normal activities.

He appeals to armed group in the bush to utilize the amnesty granted by President Salva Kiir to avoid suffering and further loss of lives.

The comments of the government come nearly a month after the recent brutal slaughter of three members of one family in Yei.
