The faithful of St Barnaba Church on Sunday started praying in their concrete new Cathedral after praying under the tree, announced Bishop of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan or ECSS, Rumbek Diocese.
Bishop Alphayo Manyang Kuctiel said it has taken 40 years for the diocese to build a Cathedral, Radio Good News reported.
Bishop Manyang expressed his happiness to God because while they were praying under the tree for the last 40 years, rain did not interrupt them.
The Bishop explained that some mentally ill people, barking dogs and vehicles used to interfere with the prayers of St Barnaba Christians under the tree.
Over six thousand ECSS faithful around Rumbek attended the event.
