Cholera cases are increasing in some parts of South Sudan, says UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs or OCHA.
OCHA in its bulletin reported that as of August 6, 883 cholera cases and 22 deaths were reported.
It said Juba has recorded 808 cholera cases and nine deaths and Terekeka has reported 14 cases and five deaths.
OCHA said in Duk, the outbreak is affecting five islands of Atuek, Atul, Koyom, Moldova and Watkuac where there have been 61 suspected cases and eight deaths.
It added that Moldova is the most affected island, with 26 cases.
OCHA said partners are raising their response strategy including surveillance, hygiene promotion and health education.
Cholera messages are being disseminated through radios, churches, mosques, mobile phone and publicity materials, while alerts are being received through the cholera hotline.
The national cholera preparedness plan has been updated to guide the response, under the Ministry of Health.
