The Mayor of Gidel in Heiban County of Nuba Mountains is urging the community to prevent cattle from entering people’s farms.

Iskander Osman told Radio Voice of Peace that all types of cattle including pigs should be closed inside at the moment until crops are harvested.

He said pigs are more destructive and people should build for them shelters so as to keep them inside.

The Mayor instructed chiefs to make fences for stray donkeys and tell owners to tie them down to avoid destroying crops.

Osman blamed some chiefs for failing to resolve issues of stray cattle entering people’s farms.

Cattle were kept away from farm lands, but the growing population, forces others to graze their animals near people’s gardens.
