Humanitarian Chief condemns violence against civilians and aid workers

United Nations Humanitarian Affairs Coordinator condemned violence against civilians and aid workers in South Sudan.
 
Stephen O’Brien at the end of his three-day visit to South Sudan on Wednesday, urged all parties to protect civilians across the country.
 
He in a press conference on Wednesday in Juba, expressed anger by the terrible acts of violence committed against civilians.
 
The Humanitarian Chief called for quick and decisive action to stop abuses and bring the perpetrators to account.
 
‘My visit to Wau and Aweil was heart-wrenching,’ said the Coordinator.
 
O’Brien categorically condemned all attacks against aid workers and assets and call on all the leadership to step up action against the unacceptable incidents.
 
He added that it is imperative that humanitarian organizations are granted free, safe, and humanitarian access to reach all people in need.
 
During his three-day visit O’Brien met with humanitarian partners and government officials and visited people affected by the crisis in Juba, Wau and Aweil.
