President Kiir replaces Riek Machar with Taban Deng

The President of the Republic on Monday issued a decree relieving Dr Riek Machar Teny from the position of the First Vice President and appointed Taban Deng Gai to replace him.
 
President Salva Kiir in a decree broadcasted over South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation, replaced David Deng Athorbei from the Ministry of Finance with the former Minister of Trade and Industry, Stephen Dhieu Dau.
 
The Ministries of Mining and Petroleum, Trade and Industry are still vacant.
 
Dr Machar on July 22 dismissed Taban Deng Gai from SPLM-IO membership and accused him of defecting to President Kiir’s SPLM faction.
 
SPLMIO leader asked President Kiir to relieve Gai from his position as Minister of Mining in the Transitional Government of National Unity.
