South Sudan Olympic Committee on Sunday sent two athletes to represent the country in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janerio, Brazil next month.
The two athletes are Margret Roman Hassan, for the women’s 200 meters and Kenyi Santino for the men’s 1500 meters, Radio Bakhita reports.
Nadia Arop Dudi, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports calls on South Sudanese to support the young team during the games.
She says sports can help bring peace and unity to the country.

19 year-old Margret says she wants to use her Olympic experience to inspire other South Sudanese girls to take up sports.
She competed as an independent athlete in the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics.
South Sudan will compete in the Olympics Games for the first time after becoming the 206th member of the International Olympics Committee or IOC in August 2015.
The games will start on August 5.
