A young man was killed last night in a robbery attempt at a home in Giru of Yei municipality, just hours after the authorities issued a local order for every resident to protect his home.
The family head shot dead one of the two armed robbers, Radio Easter reports.
Hundreds of residents gathered at Yei Freedom Square on Thursday morning to see the body of the late robber.
Mayor Bidali Cosmas Wori-Kojo, thanks the family head for shooting the armed robber, which he says is an implementation of the order issued on Wednesday.
He says the killing is a lesson for all robbers to learn from.
He clarifies that no legal case will be followed once a robber is killed at night.
Minister of Information in Yei River State Stephen Lodu Onesimo praises the municipal authorities for the work well done.
He adds that the police authorities will continue to track down the robber who escaped.
Lodu says criminals are taking advantage of the recent insecurity in state Juba.
The Minister reminds the residents who fled their homes to return to guard against robbers.
