Intergovernmental Authority on Development or IGAD called for immediate cantonment of armed forces throughout the country.
IGAD in its communiqué over the weekend, urged the Transitional Government of National Unity to separate the forces according to the Permanent Ceasefire and Security Arrangements.
It urged the Transitional Government to quickly establish the security architecture and provide unhindered access to the Monitoring and Verification Teams.
IGAD demanded the parties to honour their commitments and fully implement the peace agreement for durable peace, reconciliation and national unity.
The Authority calls for immediate investigation of the recent violence in Juba and elsewhere in South Sudan to ensure accountability of those responsible for the breakdown of law and order.
IGAD supports UN Secretary-General’s recommendations to reinforce the UN Mission in South Sudan.
