The President of the Pontifical Council of Justice and Peace in the Vatican cautions Christians in South Sudan against ethnic division.

Cardinal Peter Turkson wonders why Christians divide themselves on ethnic lines, Radio Bakhita reports.

He stresses that the ethnic difference should not be a reason to create conflicts among the people.

The Cardinal preaches that it is only Jesus who determines that people should belong to a particular ethnic group.

He adds that the different tribes should enrich the nature of human family rather than making people enemies to each other.

The President of the Pontifical Council of Justice and Peace in the Vatican was preaching at St Theresa’s Cathedral on Sunday during his second visit to Juba.
