UJOSS wins International Media Award

The Union of Journalists of South Sudan or UJOSS won in the ‘International Journalism and Media Awards 2016’ last year.
 
UJOSS Secretary General Edward Lodu Terso participated in the ‘International Journalism and Media Awards 2016′ on freedom of expression’ in Geneva, Switzerland.
 
The Award was organized by the International Christian Organization of the Media or ICOM.
 
The activities included media development through dialogue between media and security organs, media literacy awareness through the organization of World Press Freedom Day.
 
It also included International Day to End Impunity for crimes committed against Journalists, World Radio Day, and Monitoring of Press Freedom environment, among others.
 
The award was organized by the International Christian Organization of the Media or ICOM based in Geneva, Switzerland.
 
Lodu Terso says the rewarded to UJOSS is an achievement for the whole country due to hard work, cooperation and solidarity of all the partners.
 
He appreciates the partnership and pledges to continue advocating for access to information, freedom of expression and the press.
 
Lodu adds that UJOSS will campaign for media literacy in the country to counter hate speech, defamatory and insulting statements and propaganda for stability.
