The members of the United Nations Security have recognized the Transitional Government of National Unity’s efforts to investigate Wau violence by forming a ministerial committee.

The Security Council urges the Unity Government to quickly investigate and hold those responsible accountable.

It calls on all armed actors to immediately cease hostilities and allow UNMISS and other humanitarian partners to access civilians in need.

The Council warns that attacks against civilians may constitute war crimes and those involved could be subjected to sanctions.

The violence in Wau has resulted into displacement of an estimated 70 thousand people including 12 thousand sheltering near UNMISS base.
