Hope and Resurrection School stages peaceful walk in Rumbek

Viable Support to Transition and Stability or VISTAS has organised peace walk with students of Atiaba Hope and Resurrection Secondary School in Rumbek East County.
 
The students chant: ‘Break the silence and stop violence’ to inform community on the importance of peace, Radio Good News reports.
 
School headmaster, Anthony Mading, says peace is good material which should be adopted by everyone because there is no development without it.
 
One of the students, Josephine Akoi Mading, expresses happiness to spread the messages of peace among the communities in peace walk.
 
Hundreds of students joined by many villagers participate in the peace walk conducted on Thursday by VISTAS.
 
Rumbek University students want to be involve in peace initiative.
 
Students of Rumbek University on Thursday appealed to the government and non-governmental organisations to co-operate with their functional peace committee.
 
Chairman of Western Lakes State University Students’ Association Marial Abraham Makur urged the government to corporate with students to collect data from peace initiative, Radio Good News reports.
 
He appealed to UN agencies especially UNESCO to support the education sector in South Sudan.
 
I request NGOs to double their efforts in promoting education values in higher education, Abraham pleaded.
 
The Chairman urged non-governmental organizations to review issue of work experience that denies many students job opportunities.
 
He encouraged the NGOs to stop putting their interests ahead of that of the host communities.
